The Weibo-based tech tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed several new details about upcoming MediaTek's midrange chipset, Dimensity 8400.
According to him, the Dimensity 8400 will feature a tri-cluster octa-core CPU design with cores arranged in 1+4+3.
The octa-core CPU will include a Cortex-A725 large core currently operating at up to 3.xGHz, four mid-performance cores running at up to 3.xGHz and three low-performance cores rated up at 2.xGHz. This chipset is claimed to come with the same GPU IP as the D9400.
When it is scheduled for its official launch is still a mystery, but it is expected to power midrange phones, most likely successors of the Dimensity 8300-equipped phones. Also, the vendors which used Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipsets for their midlevel in 2024 are also highly likely to make use of it for their future midrange phones.
Additionally, chances of it being offered in more than one iteration are higher; To meet the demands of the vendors MediaTek might also reveal the Dimensity 8400e and Dimensity 8400 Ultra.
